Parts & Components for Specialty Applications

Whether dealing with sealants, gaskets, nozzles, pressure membranes, spark plugs, or engine components, specialty components help ensure high performance in the harshest and most complex applications.

With an industry-wide reputation for resourcefulness and design expertise, the team at Elastomer Technologies, Inc. (ETI) can create long-lasting solutions for all types of specialty needs. Specializing in injection molding, compression molding, and transfer molding, we can craft long-lasting, innovative, and affordable components with tight tolerances — even under the most demanding timelines.

Short-Run Versatility and Lights-Out Manufacturing

Our experts lead the industry in molding highly accurate, repeatable, tight-tolerance geometries. We run lights-out, around-the-clock production supported by our energy-efficient, all-electric molding equipment and 100% process verification and validation. By minimizing the costs of labor and streamlining production, the ETI team can readily accommodate part runs of all types, including specialty projects and startup models.

Material and Process Options for Specialty Applications

In specialty applications, choosing the right material is key for ensuring optimal reliability and performance. Creating custom compounders to meet specific application needs, we can work with virtually any type of synthetic or organic material. Some of the most popular materials include:

  • Silicone
  • Fluorosilicone
  • Viton®
  • EPDM
  • Butyl
  • Polyisoprene
  • Nitrile
  • Neoprene

These can be used in our liquid silicone injection molding, compression and transfer molding, and die cutting processes. Compression and transfer molding, in particular, allow for great versatility in the creation of specialty parts, and can be used to produce unique shapes with complex insert requirements and custom compounded material options. Our 50- and 100-ton injection molding presses, meanwhile, are equipped for lights-out production, as discussed above, and can handle projects requiring as few as 1,000 units to those requiring upward of one million. We also offer high-speed stamping services for materials or geometries requiring more accurate tooling or finished cuts.

And our sophisticated prototyping services — which include pour molding of room-temperature-vulcanizing (RTV) silicone, transfer/compression molding of HCR silicone or liquid silicone, and injection molding of liquid silicone rubber or HCR silicone — ensure all specialty parts are designed correctly the first time around.

Our specialty parts can be designed to offer a range of features and benefits, including:

  • Hypoallergenicity and ozone resistance
  • Mold, bacteria, and UV resistance
  • High versatility
  • Tastelessness and odorlessness
  • High- and low-temperature stability, with high consistency in all types of weather
  • Flame and tear resistance
  • Chemical resistance
  • Anti aging mechanical properties

Products and Applications

Our specialty components are commonly found in the following products and applications:

  • Weather-resistant pressurized sprinkler nozzles
  • Seals and membranes for hose systems with non-degrading mechanics
  • Filtration components and seals with low compression sets and long life spans
  • Low-pressure exit valves with superior flexibility
  • Check, one-way, and dual valves that respond with high sensitivity
  • Seals, gaskets, and O-rings made to withstand harsh environments and provide dampening, alignment, and other capabilities as needed
  • Uniform and precise valves, membranes, gauges, and seal rings
  • Overmolded part assemblies
  • Transparent, highly tactile button panels for electronics
